The goal of the Tunari program by Asociación Armonía is to restore the native forests on the southern slope of Tunari National Park, thereby improving the conservation status of the watersheds in this mountain range that flow down to the Cochabamba Valley. Likewise, through this program, we aim to facilitate the sustainable development of the communities living within this area by protecting and maintaining the ecosystem functions of these watersheds. The native forests on the southern slope of Tunari National Park are important for numerous species of endemic birds in Bolivia, such as the Cochabamba Mountain Finch (Poospiza garleppi), which have a limited range and are vulnerable to extinction. Safeguarding the ecosystem functions of these watersheds is key for the future of local communities and the inhabitants of the Cochabamba Valley.
